I moved to the US at 21, and fell back in love with Polish from the outside.
I grew up speaking Polish without thinking twice about it. It wasn't until I moved to the US at 21 that I realized how much of the language, the rhythm, the humor, the phrases my dad still says every single day, never made it into any textbook.
Teaching has run through my whole adult life, in one language or another. I tutored English back in Poland before I left in 2005, tutored Spanish through my college years here in the US, and started teaching Polish when I moved to Charlotte in 2013. Along the way I earned a Master's in Teaching English as a Second Language, so I could pair that real, lived-in language experience with a method that actually works.
That's the Polish I teach today: real, spoken Polish, the kind you'd actually hear at a Polish family dinner table, grounded in proven teaching method. I built TutorTak so English speakers could learn Polish the way it's really spoken: messy idioms, real grammar, and all.
Today I run small group classes, a free weekly newsletter with stories straight from my life split between the US and Poland, and a growing set of resources for people who are serious about actually speaking Polish, not just studying it.
